1917 8 Valve JD

Here is a picture of a rare HD. It's a 1917 8 valve JD. It was owned by JD John Cameron. He was an original BoozeFighter. John joined the BF's when the club was about 2 years old (~1948).

It was a racing bike that wasn't mass produced. There were only about 10 of them made and only two are known to exist today.

John's was sold after his death for I think over $100,000. The other one was reconstructed, there were engine cases in New Zealand and someone brought the thing back to the states. I saw it and have some film from last years Del Mar Mile (undeveloped still, boo on me). It looks pristene.

John used to race quite a bit and was pretty famous in his day. Most of the original BF's were racers of one type or another.

JD did ride the bike though, it was never a garage queen. JD had a lot of JD's, that's how he got his name. He would ride the bikes from SoCal to Sturgis. That's a BoozeFighter!
