I've been go'in down the road you see,
since the age of two or three;
When I took that first big step,
I knew it was my passion.

Mom and Dad they tried they're best,
to instill in me to try to quest;
For knowledge and integrity,
I was free, to do it in my fashion.

When I left home I guess they knew,
steps I'd take might make them blue;
For I was on my own and life,
was to enjoy and to discover.

I want for you the best of things,
that this life and journey brings;
My Dad told me one day,
beside a trout stream.

So I hit the road all full of hope,
never thinking that I couldn't cope;
With any thing that life,
put on my table.

Some crossroads where I took a right,
never knowing what lay out of sight;
I'm sure they thought would,
shatter my great dream.

I never thought the turns I took,
were wrong or right in this great book;
For I was here to learn,
it's truth or fable.

Roads so long with turns and bends,
I never thought that they would end;
Many times I thought,
I'd reached my destination.

When a trip was finally through,
back in my mind I guess I knew;
It was time to start,
and live another chapter.

So off I'd go down another road,
usually with a lighter load;
With a little bit more,
knowledge and expectation.

Lessons learned I tried to use,
so at the next turn I could choose;
That chance or luck would,
not become a factor.

Degree's and Title's I do not hold,
that make the difference so I'm told;
To choose the path or road,
of least resistance.

I've met the best of friends out there,
to tell the truth don't even care;
How long the road ,
or traveling the distance.

Rewards of life are measured you see,
not by things you have or who you be;
But by the stops you make,
and where the road has ended.

Cause in the end the road you take,
the things you see, the friends you make;
Memories left behind,
on those befriended.

Make the trip I'm on worth all the pain,
cause the memories forever remain;
And there's no turn I took,
that I shall ever regret.

Some have loved me more, and I've loved them too;
And I hope they're skies, are always blue.
That their life is worth,
the pain and all the pleasure.

Cause for some that road is short you see,
at the crossroads they will never be;
In their face and hair, wind has never blowed.
But I'll still miss them, Go'in Down the Road.
